Often in the Christian walk we will find ourselves confronting issues which may be uncomfortable. Other issues may make us take stands when we would rather run the other way or possibly ride the fence. In a day when knowing what you believe is so important, you better know what you are building your foundation on and just where you take your stand.
I remember one incident in which we were told we could not speak out against a certain lifestyle or we could be arrested. We are sensing the persecution across the land. In a country where we were once given the opportunity to have freedom of religion (no matter what that religion was or what it stated), the freedom of speech (to speak out your opinions or belief without the fear of being harmed or arrested)...today these very things are under fire. You can have freedom of religion as long as your religious beliefs are "politically correct". You can have freedom of speech as long as your speech is "politically correct". I don't believe this is what our forefathers meant when they stood to put together the foundations of our country. I believe their words were perfectly clear.
Today, I write this as I think of another friend who is being persecuted on her own job for taking a stand. The interesting part...they knew where she stood when they hired her. Was she meant to be made an example of what will happen to you if you take a stand in this place? Or was she placed there specifically for The Lord to do His work and to allow her testimony to shine in this? God has brought this young woman so far and through so many obstacles that a few years ago no one would have believed she would have ever took such a firm stand in her faith. The amazing thing is that she's only lived it out in front of these people and done nothing wrong until she was directly confronted. This particular week this young woman has been confronted not only on hot issues but even with religious beliefs and some cult beliefs in which she has had to stand firm.
My challenge to you today is to think about what you really believe. What are you standing on? How will God find his faithful ones? Will you be among those standing firm in your faith or just the ones who merely got by? Will you be the one who is persecuted today and how will you respond? Gods word says we are blessed if we persecuted. Gods word says here in Isaiah that if you will not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all. That's what this verse is saying here in the KJV. So friends, make sure you know what you believe based on the foundations of Gods word. Then do not be ashamed of the gospel but instead believe....and Be one who will be found "Standing Firm".
"If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established."
Isaiah 7:9b (KJV)
