I have been challenged recently by one of the young women to whom we have been ministering. It seems as though she feels she does nothing right, feels like a failure and just continues to drain herself with these thoughts of discontent, and lies from the enemy.
As I am a very positive person, I find it hard to listen to others who find such negative words to say about themselves or anyone. I am learning though that as I listen to others share their hearts, so many of them are just buried with guilt from their past, or they choose to live in such a horrible view of who they are as a new creation in Christ. Why?
It saddens me to think that we believe the things that the enemy says with such a vigor and negate the truths proclaimed by our Heavenly Father. I struggled for years not seeing the value in who I was in Christ. I see now where He has worked so many things out of who I am today. He has made this flesh and bones not someone who sees themselves as of a lesser value, but someone worth more than money could buy...someone worth dying for!
Today, I want to challenge you as you read this to think on the things that are spoke of in Philippians 4:8. We need to remember that we can be confident in the one who created us to make us more than we ever thought. We have everything to live for...in Christ alone. I think unfortunately that we have often tried to measure ourselves to the standards of man, that we don't put ourselves out there to be measured by God's standards. Sure, His standards may be tougher than mans, but they are also wrapped in grace, mercy and love. God wants us to see ourselves through His eyes. He wants us to see others through His eyes. Why do we allow the world to cloud our eyes on that?
Take a few moments today just to spend time thanking God for who you are in Him. Praise Him for allowing you to be of more value than you ever dreamed. He cares so much for His creation: the world, the animals, birds, and US. We are worth a great deal to Him!
Heavenly Father, I do praise you for knowing me, and for fearfully and wondrously making me the person I am today. I praise you for giving us the ability to know you and to see that you want to make us more like you each day...someone who can love ourselves as you love us and love others as you would have us to do. May I live my life today with words that breathe life into others; positive, encouraging, uplifting and strengthening the body of Christ. Amen
But the very hairs on your head are all numbered. Fear ye not, therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
