Recently I had the opportunity to be a part of a youth camp that I had originally no intentions of being a part. It seemed though that the Lord saw a bit differently as He opened the doors for it all to happen. I was asked to be one of the girl counselors and I questioned as to why God would choose “me” to go to youth camp. I still keep giggling at the thought that He actually wanted me to do this. Yes, I was definitely reminded that I was not 16 anymore…however it didn’t mean that my own heart and life would not be impacted as well.
God moved in a great way through the youth camp. I saw youth worship in ways that I do not see very often as we travel across the country. I saw youth in true repentance and worshipping unhindered in their spirits by anything or anyone. I saw some no longer afraid to lift their head and hands to the Lord in praise. I saw many fall to their knees. What you don’t know is that I saw them from one end of the stage at the altar to the other on their knees crying out to the Lord. I saw them in the aisles and along the wall. I even had the opportunity to see some actually prostrate before the Lord weeping and crying out in repentance.
When these youth got rooted with the Lord, and were able to get their hearts focused and in tune with Him, they were able to also get real with one another. I watched a youth group that went as individuals come back more than that. I saw them go from separated lives to a group that wanted to have some bible studies, get together, fellowship, and enjoy one another. I saw them truly get real. I saw them draw closer to one another and share their hearts because they had been able to get real with God and now with one another. God’s word says that if the root is holy that the branches are too in Romans 11. We are to be living sacrifices and that means that we are not the masters of our bodies and minds…God is. All that we do or think must be about Him. He wants us to get truly rooted in Him so that we can be real not only with Him but with the world and allow them to see Him in and through our lives.
As we travel across the country, or even sit still waiting to see what He would have us to do next, we anticipate with excitement now. We have come to the point that we realize our lives are not our own. In Tim’s words, “I’m just a man..but God is God”. Nothing is too difficult for him and no circumstance is is impossible. Our own faith has been challenged and God continues to remind us each day that our lives are His. Each day we seek to get rooted deeper with Him so we can be real with others too. So what impact are you making in the lives of others. How rooted are you? How real are you? What might God be saying to you today as you seek to be a living sacrifice for Him? Come on friends…let’s get rooted and let’s get real!
“For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.”
