I once heard, “you don’t throw something away just because it’s a little broken”. I see how applicable this is when it comes to our lives as well. This week has been no exception.
This week, I have encountered stories from other women who are struggling with areas in their lives. One young lady came to me and discussed some areas in her life where she has begun to see she needs something more. She has lived a life of drugs and alcohol, of immorality, and great sin. She had even been told by someone that she was not worthy of the Christian life and God couldn’t forgive her. One person even told her that it was all “nonsense” and that God couldn’t help her. Why would ANYONE say such things to a young girl like this? The biggest reason I believe is that the person who told her this are in need of knowing the same Lord who can forgive all sin.
The young girl went on to share with me her heart ache and some of the pain she has been dealing with in her life. She is now a single mother, with a young child and having to figure out how all the junk in her life can work out. I was so excited to introduce her to the ONE who COULD help her figure it out. She had the chance to get to know personally the ONE who is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. She now can say she knows WHO Jesus is. What a blessing it is to know that we can introduce the world to the one who can help them in all things. Her entire face changed after having prayed the sinners prayer and that she could repent of her sins and turn to live a new life. Who would have thought that the real inside change could appear on the outside of her face?
I remember not too long ago of a sweet lady telling me that she didn’t know what I was doing with these girls that there were such visible changes on their face, expressions in their lives and such. I step back and I thought about that…”how could we not expect to see a change?” As I think of the ones we encounter and have the chance to minister to, I wonder just why we would think anything else. Once we truly have met Jesus, our lives should NEVER be the same. There should always be a pressing forward, an evidence of growth, and most definitely not only an inward change, but an outward change.
So I ask you the same question…has your life so changed and a visual expression of who Jesus really is been placed upon not only the doors of your heart, but an outward expression that shows vividly that something else has happened in your life. So, just how well do you KNOW THE LORD?
“Come, see a man, which told me all things that I ever did: is not this the Christ?”
